The book of 2015: chapter 1

The children snuggled together in Mommy's bed under the warm blankies. Two kids are coughing but who cares? We're together and it's a brand new year. Around 10 AM they wandered down to the kitchen together where Daddy had made some waffles for breakfast. Mommy strolled to the computer to pay some bills and thought "My, we've come so far in 3 long-short months. Things are finally moving in the right direction. This could be a great year." A quick check of emails and Facebook and then it's to the living room where the family watched a movie together. Afterwards, the boys went upstairs to their room to hang out together with their IPads and the girls started their daily destructive hurricane play routine, while Mommy made a crock pot full of homemade chili and baked a couple of potatoes for her and Daddy. She took a few quiet moments to work out and managed to accomplish a mini-goal. She then caught up on her emails and Facebook - which were full of busy and happy reports today - and talked to an old friend and made plans for a special event coming soon. Then she made some homemade pizza for the kiddos who won't touch chili and baked potatoes. The kids began trickling into the kitchen as they smelled the food and lots of laughter and talking took place. Mommy then hung out with the kiddos while they proclaimed it was the best pizza they'd ever had (sadly - no - it was not - but Mom's just glad they liked it). Now they are piled all over the couches and watching football together. Mommy suddenly realizes the kids are still in their PJs and thinks "who cares?! - it's been a great (and peaceful) New Year's Day (minus the coughs). Soon the darkness will fall and heavy little eyes will go back to bed for (hopefully) a good night of restful sleep, so they can wake up ready to start chapter 2 tomorrow.
