Group Run Day

It's Wednesday. Group Run Day!

I babied my shin all night and all morning, just hoping I'd be okay with running with the group this evening. When I got to the group run, the leg was okay. No sharp pain and no real achiness, so I was willing to give it a shot.

We made it about 1/2 a mile before another lady in the group had to stop to walk because of some knee issues. So I gladly slowed to a walk with her and just enjoyed the conversation. After one lap around though, I was ready to jump in with the others as they ran by us, because I wanted to run on my leg and see if it was really okay. It took a while for the others to catch up to us, but then we did this crazy switch-off and I ended up running with a friend for another 0.6 miles. It was a faster-paced 0.6, but my leg held up fine. Nothing to make me think there was a problem.

Our run ended and it was time to go inside to workout and stretch. We did an easy breathing/core exercise and some rolling. By the time we left I was antsy. I needed more run time. I wasn't ready to go home yet and I wasn't ready to call it a day. I didn't want to stay at the gym and run. So I drove over to Anchor Park and pulled into a spot. I never run here. I wasn't even sure where to go. But, I figured the sidewalk along the main road was pretty flat and even, so I'd just do a quick out and back before it got dark.

I managed to 1.5 in 17:39, and felt better. Nothing hurt, though when I got home, I ended up icing and babying the leg a little more. I was just trying to prevent whatever it was from coming back.

Deep breaths - I think we're good to go.
