I spent the morning trying to get everything finished with my WSI so I can start teaching swim lessons at the gym. After hours of staring at a screen, I couldn't wait to get out and run. Unfortunately, the heat has been oppressive, and running in it is not easy for me. I was going to wait until later in the evening when it was cooler to go out and run, but my boys were leaving and Don was gone, so I couldn't leave the girls alone to go run. I headed out earlier than planned.
Surprisingly, my lungs handled the heat okay. The problem was, my legs were not okay. There were sore, and then going up a hill, I got a sharp pain in my left shin, on the exact same spot that was bothering me yesterday. I turned towards home, cutting the run extremely short. I started icing it and trying not to panic. This pain was in a different spot than my normal shin splint type of pain. I really hope it's just sore and unhappy. My plan had been to get 2 miles in tonigh, and 2 in the morning. I think now I'm just going to go with 1.75 now and 0 in the morning. This is the last thing I need 2 weeks before my race.
